Six Memos for the Next Millennium ring, Chapter 1: Lightness

from £285.00

This conceptual sculptural sterling silver ring is part of my 'Six Memos for the Next Millennium’ series. The rings are based on the book by Italo Calvino of the same name. This is ring number 1, based on Calvino's first chapter on the subject of 'Lightness'.

PLEASE NOTE: These rings are made to order and sent off for hallmarking once finished. This means it will take a little longer than the standard turnaround on commissions stated on the home page of the webpage. Please allow at least 2-3 weeks for your ring to arrive (longer if you live in Europe and beyond).

The ring represents the lightness of Space; the most weightless of places and light years away. The ring is made from sheets of sterling silver which have been cut by hand and meticulously soldered together. The hollowed half dome that rests on the top is oxidised on the inside to give the silver a blackness and depth. It has been drilled with many tiny holes to create a tiny universe.

For rings UK size H -P the overall height of the ring is 4cm. It has a maximum width of 2.5cm which is the diameter of the half dome. For ring sizes larger than UK size P the height of the ring will slightly increase.

This ring is made to order. If you have your ring size in a European, US or other size we can use this to work out your ring size - just send us a message with the size and we will do the rest.

The width of the ring band tapers from 0.5cm to 0.8cm. Please bear this in mind when measuring your ring size. As a general rule, as a ring band increases in width, your ring size will also increase.
