Loopy about Lupins

I've been sketching these little inflated flower pods this weekend.  They have a kind of boat shaped / keel like portion which remains sealed at the top until the seed pod takes over the fragility of the whole composition.

The world needs more lupins in my humble opinion and I'm doing my bit to this end by having a little lupin nursery by my back door.  I have 10 or 15 little lupins ready to plant and hopefully one day I'll be able to look out and see something a bit like this!  (Photograph by Simon Verrall)

Elsewhere today, I finished a particularly difficult handmade chain.  It took FOREVER to make.  It took so long I began to doubt in my ability to make this kind of work commercially viable.  As it turns out - this piece is a gift and so the commercial element doesn't really come into it.  More pictures of this rather lovely piece soon!  Until then mes amis, don't forget to stop and smell the flowers.
