Musings on a Mercredi

When we have a really low tide here my neighbours come out in force.  Armed with buckets and nets and tools they troop down to the exposed coastal edge to catch their lunch.  I've been there too and I'm often surprised how quickly this shelf of temporal land disappears.  And it cannot be stopped.  For all our ingenuity and inventions we can't stop the advancing tide.  In the same vein, even though it still feels like summer, the leaves aren't hanging around.  They have run their course and the time has come for them to fall.  As the well known saying goes 'time and tide wait for no man'.

It is possible that I am hanging on to some things too tightly.  If I don't loosen my grip there is a danger I will be stranded by the rising tide.  If I don't let go I'll be left clutching at bare branches and twigs that have lost their bloom and life.
