Today, I feel like a Grand Couturier!

Carefully selected ingredients have been arriving in the post box here at Atelier Hakes for the past two weeks.

From India, the most magnificent flashing labradorite you ever did see!

It is truly mesmerising.  I can hardly bear to take my eyes off it.  I have had cause to wax lyrical about this stone on previous occasions but I have never had such a big chunk of it in my hands.  It is truly chimeric.  From some angles it has a mute, quiet, greyness to it.  But turn your head, just a fraction, and suddenly this intense cerulean flash will stop you in your tracks.

From North America, this encrusted druzy.  Full of honeyed brown tones and a soft soft sparkle glinting from within its crystalline heart.

Oh, this stone, let me tell you about this stone.  It has such an intense colour and at the same time it glows with light.  It has a transparency.  It lights up like a beacon when the sunshine catches it.

Perhaps I am being a little over dramatic.  But these stones have so much life and colour to them.  There are so many words I could use to try and describe them.

Added to all of this, silver is arriving from London with a world wearied traveller the evening.

The silver is going to worked until it shines like moonlight.  It is going to be imprinted and filed and forged and soldered and polished.

I can't wait to get started.  Join me next week mes amis!
